The Descent

Role: Director, Producer, Cinematographer, Editor

The Descent follows Jason Phelps on a demanding rifle elk hunt through Washington's Blue Mountains. Challenging terrain, severe weather, and the pressure of a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity created the foundation for a cinematic hunting story built around tension, preparation, and perseverance.

The film became Leupold & Stevens' highest-viewed YouTube film, and remained #1 for over three years, amassing roughly 289,000 views.

Horns of the High Desert

Role: Cinematographer, Editor

Horns of the High Desert follows Leupold Vice President of Product & Marketing Tim Lesser on a demanding bighorn sheep hunt in Oregon's Steens Mountain. Working in remote, high-elevation terrain, the production required a combination of lightweight field cinematography, environmental storytelling, and coverage designed to capture both the physical challenge of the hunt and the stakes of pursuing a mature animal.

Closing the Gap

Role: Director, Producer, Cinematographer, Editor

Closing the Gap documents the GAP Grind, the world's largest precision rifle match, and was one of Leupold's early documentary-style productions focused on the precision shooting community. The project was developed to bring greater visibility to an important but highly specialized segment of Leupold's audience.

The production required capturing the scale, intensity, and technical nature of the event while maintaining an accessible narrative for viewers unfamiliar with precision rifle competition.

Impact: A Precision Rifle Series Competition

Role: Director, Producer, Cinematographer, Editor

Impact was my first documentary-style production covering a Precision Rifle Series competition. The project introduced me to a highly technical and specialized shooting environment while challenging me to tell the story through the lens of Leupold's "Be Relentless" brand message.

High winds, extreme heat, elevation, and the fast pace of competition created significant production challenges in the field. The final film combines competition coverage, environmental cinematography, and character-driven moments to communicate the intensity of the sport.
